3. Trimester

Unser Baby und Tonia´s Bauch wachsen und wachsen und unsere Wohnung füllt sich langsam aber sicher mit Baby-Sachen. Vorfreude und Aufregung auf die Geburt steigen und wir sind schon sehr gespannt auf die Zeit zu dritt!


Our baby ("Peanut") and Tonia´s belly are getting bigger and bigger and you can find more and more baby stuff in our apartment. The excitement and anticipation of the birth are growing and we´re looking forward to the arrival of our baby!

Snowshoeing + "Muddi" in da house

Letzte Woche haben wir ENDLICH unsere Schneeschuhe hier in Finnland eingeweiht (hat Spaß gemacht!)...

Last week we FINALLY went snowshoeing here in Finland (it was fun!)...

...hatten Besuch von unserer (Schwieger-)"Muddi" und haben sämtliche Babyläden in Rauma & Turku unsicher gemacht (die Zeit bis Mai wird bestimmt schnell vergehen!)

...Tonia´s mom was here for a visit and we went baby shopping in Rauma & Turku (May will be here before we know it!)

Schön, dass du da warst Mama bzw. Bald-zum-dritten-Mal-Oma!

Schneee/Snooow

Seit Wochen ist die Landschaft in und um Rauma von einer dicken Schneedecke überzogen und letztes Wochenende hat es nochmal richtig viel Neuschnee gegeben...
For weeks the landscape in and around Rauma has been covered with a thick layer of snow. Last weekend we got even more fresh snow...



Und auch wenn es ziemlich anstrengend ist, mit Gimli durch den tiefen Schnee zu stapfen, ist es unglaublich lustig, ihm beim "Schnee-Räumen" zuzusehen!
And although it´s pretty exhausting to walk with Gimli through the deep snow, it is so much fun, to watch him "shovel" through the snow!

Wir halten uns gegenseitig warm und zählen die Tage bis zum Frühlingsbeginn!

We keep each other warm and are counting the days until the beginning of spring!

Am 19. Dezember sind wir mit Gimli nach Deutschland geflogen, haben dort ein wunderschönes Weihnachtsfest mit Tonia´s Familie verbracht...
On December 19th we went to Germany with Gimli, spent a wonderful Christmas with Tonia´s family...

...und haben Freunde mit ihrem süßen Nachwuchs besucht.

...and visited friends with their cute kids.

An Silvester waren wir dann wieder im verschneiten Finnland und haben 4 Tage später John´s 29. Geburtstag gefeiert.

On New Year´s Eve we were back in Finland and four days later we celebrated John´s 29th birthday.

Wir sind uns sicher, dass 2010 ein ganz besonderes Jahr wird und freuen uns schon auf die kommenden Wochen und v.a. auf Mai! Gutes Neues Jahr an euch alle!

We´re sure that 2010 will be a very special year and are excited for the weeks to come and especially for May! Happy New Year to you all!

Schöner Advent - Happy Advent!

Um die dunklen Tage bis Weihnachten zu verkürzen, gibt es einige tolle Dinge zu tun hier in Rauma:
There are a few fun things to do here in Rauma to pass the dark days until Christmas:

1. Plätzchen backen (und natürlich futtern). Baking gingerbread cookies (and eating them).


2. Mit Gimli durch den Schnee stapfen und die wunderschöne Winterlandschaft bestaunen. Walking through the snow with Gimli and admiring the beautiful winter landscape.



3. Weihnachtsfeier mit Freunden (mit leckerem Turkey à la John und Feuerzangenbowle im Hof). Christmas party with friends (with a yummy turkey made by John and "flaming tongs punch" in our backyard)



So hoch steht übrigens zur Zeit die Sonne um 12 Uhr mittags (wenn sie denn scheint):

Und um halb 4 geht sie auch schon wieder unter.

And sunset at 3:30 p.m.

Wir freuen uns auf Weihnachten!!!

We´re looking forward to the holidays!!!

Thanksgiving in den/the US

Nach 2 Jahren war es ENDLICH mal wieder an der Zeit, unserer Familie in den USA einen Besuch abzustatten. Dieses Mal sind wir nicht zu John´s Eltern nach Phoenix geflogen, sondern haben 2 Wochen bei John´s Schwestern (und Familien) in Minneapolis (Minnesota) und Wessington Springs (South Dakota) verbracht.
After two years it was FINALLY time to pay a visit to our family in the USA. This time we didn´t fly to John´s parents in Phoenix, but spent two weeks at John´s sisters (and families) in Minneapolis (MN) and Wessington Springs (SD).

Unser Familienurlaub war ziemlich abwechslungsreich - hier sind einige Highlights: Spielzeit mit unseren Nichten und unserem Neffen (die alle groß geworden, aber immernoch genauso süß sind), die Taufe unserer Nichte Siri, Thanksgiving-Turkey-Futtern und Weihnachts-Frühstück mit der ganzen Familie, sightseeing-Touren durch Minneapolis & St. Paul, die unendlich weite Landschaft South Dakotas mit vielen glücklichen Kühen, Tonscheiben-Schießen mit einer shot gun, weihnachtlich beleuchtete Häuser und eine nächtliche Weihnachtsparade, Shopping (u.a. in der "Mall of America", der größten Mall in den USA) und vieles mehr.
Our family vacation was quite varied - here are some highlights: playtime with our nieces and nephew (who have all grown a lot, but are still as cute as ever), the baptism of our niece Siri, Thanksgiving dinner and Christmas breakfast with the whole family, sightseeing tours through Minneapolis & St. Paul, the wide open landscape of South Dakota with many happy cows, shooting guns, festive decorated houses and a Christmas parade, shopping (among otheres at the Mall of America) and much more.

Schade, dass wir unsere amerikanische Familie nicht öfter sehen können - wir hatten eine wunderschöne Zeit mit euch und vermissen euch!!!
It´s too bad that we aren´t able to see our American family more often - we had a wonderful time with you and miss you!

Wochenend-Aktivitäten - weekend activities

Letztes Wochenende haben wir den Geburtstag einer Freundin gefeiert...
Last weekend we celebrated a friend´s birthday...

...sind mit Freunden spazieren gegangen...

...went for a walk with friends...



...und haben den Sonntag Vormittag mit Gimli und anderen Welpen im Wald verbracht.
...and spent our Sunday morning with Gimli and other puppies in the forest.






Und bevor man sich umschaut, ist schon wieder eine Woche vergangen und das nächste Wochenende steht vor der Tür...Happy Halloween!
