Der 1. Mai ist auch in Finnland ein Feiertag. Er wird Vappu genannt und ist nicht nur der Tag der Arbeit, sondern v.a. ein Studenten- und Frühlingsfest. Am Vorabend öffnen die Cafés und Kneipen ihre Open-Air-Bereich und die Finnen ziehen (zum Teil verkleidet) durch die Straßen und feiern ihr Abitur. Wir haben ihnen dabei zugeschaut und das wunderschöne Abendrot genossen.
First of May is also a holiday in Finland. It´s called Vappu and is not only "Labor Day" but more of a student and spring celebration. The night before cafes and bars open their open-air areas and the Finns walk through the streets (some of them in costums) and celebrate their diplomas. We watched them and enjoyed the beautiful sunset.
Heute haben wir dann ganz privat das Ende der kalten Jahreszeit gefeiert und ENDLICH die Grillsaison eröffnet!
Today we celebrated the end of winter ourselves - the bbq season has FINALLY started!
